Exposing one's self

When one hears "facebook or myspace" the first thing that comes to their mind is a networking site, Correct? Wrong most think of children exposing to much personal information about themselves.

The New York Times recently issued an article about how investors and creditors are making fortune's out of these sites. Not only by making "applications and links" available but as a major advertising advantage. Companies try to sell items and slogans to these "children."

For example myspace says that their users must be at least 14 years of age to join MySpace. The new york state legal age is 21 years old. Myspace allows kids to join groups regarding alcohol.

I believe that the age to join myspace and facebook should be raised to at least 16 years old. This is still a young age to me, due to the fact that their are many older adults lying about their age on these sites. It is not a safe place for children under the age of 16 in my opinion.
